COVID-19: A Reminder from our Safety Officer
We are excited for baseball and softball to be played. With that comes our obligation as parents, coaches, and players to ensure the health and safety of all participants.
Please remember that it is up to each and every one of us to stay diligent as we maneuver through this pandemic and focus on making this season a success.
Proper mask wearing and distancing are key components to reduce the risk of transmission, should a player or coach test positive for COVID-19. Proper mask wearing and distancing are used to determine whether or not a coach or player will be deemed a close contact. A close contact is anyone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to test specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated. Close contacts must quarantine and monitor for symptoms for 10 days following the date of exposure.
Teams must monitor players, coaches and volunteers for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. Any individual (including coaches, players, and families) who tests positive for or is showing symptoms of COVID-19, as well as close contacts, should isolate for 10 days and are not permitted to return to SBLL activities until
all
of the following have been met:
10 days since symptoms first appeared, AND
24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications, AND
Other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving*
*Loss of taste and smell may persist for weeks or months after recovery and need not delay the end of isolation.
People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported - ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Symptoms of COVID-19 are:
Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
